Objective 8 - Destroy the Ewagwa Barracks
The natives won’t attack out of the barracks unless you send artillery or soldiers near their gates. Bring about 15 villagers near the area and build 2 barracks, a stable, an artillery foundry and a church. You also want three outposts near the gate near the gold pile. You may have to start deleting some outposts if you’ve already reached the maximum of 10. Upgrade your military as much as you can and having a good mixture of skirmishers, pikemen, war wagons, falconets and mortars will do nicely. You should be at max pop by now and make sure you have a big army to attack the barracks with. Getting the standing army and mass cavalry upgrades is a good idea to reduce your soldier train time, and you should get your outpost upgrades as they become available.
Once preparations are complete, task your mortars on the first barracks then the second. The key is to destroy the barracks as fast as possible from range as that stops the Native warriors from spawning there. Use the rest of your military to fight the Natives that spawn. Expect a few big waves of Dog Soldiers, archers and riflemen. Keep replenishing your forces until the barracks are destroyed. Be aware that the barracks have increased hit points so it takes a while to destory them. Next use the mortars to knock down the towers that the British villies erect, then smash through the walls. Immediately send in some soldiers to kill the British villagers that are stealing the gold jack pots. It’s a good idea to heal your soldiers now, and move the falconets and a couple of culverins near the jackpots. You’ll need them to protect your villagers against the long bows that attack from the plateau. Move your villagers to the jackpots and collect the coin all the while using your falconets to shoot the longbows. Once you’ve got 10,000 coin a truce is called by the British.
Objective 9 - Meet the Engineers
Objective 10 - Pay the King or;
Objective 11 - Pay the Engineers, Build/Defend the Wonder
All these objectives happen in rapid succession and depending on your choice in the choice dialogue selection you’ll either have to complete Objective 10 or 11, but not both.
A British envoy will arrive at your town as will the Dutch engineers. A scroll comes up and basically says the British garrison orders you to return the gold you stole. A choice dialogue will come up and you can chose to pay the King or to pay the engineers. Note you can do either and still progress in the game, but defending the wonder – and defying the King’s order - is much more fun. Plus defending the wonder earns you the technology of plantations plus three special “Fury Bear” units which are very powerful and fast units that destroy buildings when they stand next to them. Definitely worth getting!
Once you pay the Dutch engineers they’ll walk over to an area near where the Ewogwa barracks were, and they’ll build an ossuary. A timer will come up indicating 10 minutes, the time it takes for the Spirits to recognize your wonder.
At this point leave your falconets and culverins that were protecting the jack pot collectors in place, get your villagers collecting that gold pile, and leave 10 pikemen there also. Move the rest of your army near the wonder and add a few more falconets there too. I like to put up three outposts near the wonder also for point defense. Keep your mortars near the wonder also, near the shore, as a British monitor will come into that nearby lagoon and try to bomb your wonder.
Soon after the wonder goes up the British will attack it with long range rockets. Use the falconets and culverins to destroy them. There are two waves of rockets that will spawn on the plateau. Just after a group of heavy British cavalry will appear so use your pikemen to defend your artillery that’s shooting at the rockets. Another wave of rockets will come from the British main gate and try to fire on the wonder. Use the pikemen and artillery to kill them. You can then move these forces to your wonder to help defend it.
At the wonder you’ll be confronted with large waves of Native Mantlets, riflemen and horse archers. Keep replenishing your forces and use lots of falconets and you should be able to defend the wonder. Don’t forget that monitor that shows up and also there is a 50/50 chance a sizeable and tough force of British will land on the shore near the wonder. If this happens, move some of your force down to fight them, killing their mortars first, then dealing with the other soldiers.
The British launch a balloon attack about now. When you hear the air raid siren, move your soldiers away from the wonder – the attack isn’t strong enough to destroy the wonder as long as you’ve been constantly repairing it, but it will kill your soldiers. When the balloon passes and heads out to sea, move your soldiers back to the wonder and keep fighting.
Before long the wonder timer will elapse and the spirits will recognize it. You’ll be rewarded with the Plantations technology and you’ll get the Fury Bears.
